To change the background click on the label bar and in the layer window select the style tab.

Choose a source from the background top tab then upload an image or pick a background color.

VFX Course Syllabus
(After Effects + Nuke + Houdini + Maya)

Course Overview

This intensive 8-month online VFX course by Animatography Studio is designed to train students in the core and advanced techniques of Visual Effects using industry-standard software: After Effects, Nuke, Houdini, and Maya. Structured in three progressive levels — Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced — the course covers Compositing, Motion Tracking, Green Screen Keying, FX Simulation, Matte Painting, and Showreel Development.

Basic Level (Months 1-2):
VFX Foundations & Essentials

  1. Introduction to the VFX Pipeline (Week 1–2)
    – Overview of the VFX workflow in film & games
    – Interface & workspace setup: After Effects, Nuke, Houdini
    – Project organization and file management.
  2. ROTO & PAINT BASICS (Week 3–5)
    – Rotoscoping techniques in Nuke
    – Clean plate creation & object removal
    – Wire/rig cleanup
  3. MOTION TRACKING & MATCHMOVING (Week 6–7)
    – 2D and 3D tracking using After Effects & Maya
    – Camera solve and object integration
  4. GREEN SCREEN KEYING (Week 8)
    – Chroma key techniques using Keylight & Primatte
    – Spill suppression and edge refinement

Intermediate Level (Months 3–5):
Simulation, Compositing & FX Integration

  1. PARTICLE & FLUID FX – HOUDINI (Week 9–11)
    – Procedural effects: fire, smoke, water
    – Simulations and caching basics
  2. COMPOSITING PRINCIPLES – NUKE (Week 12–13)
    – Layering, color correction, and depth compositing
    – Working with AOVs and render passes
  3. MATTE PAINTING & DIGITAL SET EXTENSION (Week 14–15)
    – Photoshop + Nuke pipeline
    – 2.5D projection and camera mapping
  4. INTEGRATING CG ELEMENTS INTO LIVE ACTION (Week 16–17)
    – Lighting and shadow matching
    – Rendering with Arnold for compositing
  5. FX SHOT CREATION (Week 18–20)
    – Complete FX shot: explosion, debris, or environmental effect
    – Storyboarding and planning

Advanced Level (Months 6–8):
Showreel, Polish & Final Project

  1. ADVANCED COMPOSITING & CLEANUP (Week 21–22)
    – Multi-pass compositing and advanced node workflows
    – Edge blur, depth haze, and integration tricks
  2. LOOK DEVELOPMENT & COLOR GRADING (Week 23–24)
    – Stylized vs photoreal grading
    – LUTs and cinematic looks
  3. RENDERING & FINAL OUTPUT (Week 25–26)
    – Optimizing VFX shots for delivery
    – Compression formats and publishing
  4. FINAL VFX SHORT PROJECT (Week 27–32)
    – Plan, shoot, and execute a complete VFX shot or sequence
    – Final showreel edit and professional portfolio prep

Final Deliverables

  • 2 Clean VFX Shots (Composited & Tracked)
  • 1 CG Integration with Live-Action
